Family resilience and transition support

For young people aged 16 to 24 and their families, where the whole family needs support through transition

Because when families feel supported, young people thrive with the confidence, stability, and encouragement they need to grow, learn, and reach their full potential.

What it involves

The transition into adulthood can be one of the most challenging periods for families navigating Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), employment pathways and increasing independence.

Parents and carers often become the coordinators, advocates and emotional support for their young person, while also trying to navigate complex systems and services.

At Beyond Barriers, we believe supporting the family is fundamental to achieving successful, sustainable outcomes.

Our Family Support Offer is designed to work alongside parents and carers, providing practical guidance, parent workshops, support groups, SEND navigation, transition support, emotional support and a trusted point of contact throughout every stage of their young person’s journey.

Skills for Life

Helping families prepare for employment, further education, adulthood and greater independence with confidence.

Stronger family resilience creates a stable foundation for young people to grow, adapt, and succeed. When families have access to the right support, guidance, and resources, they are better equipped to navigate challenges, manage stress, and maintain positive relationships.

This strengthened resilience helps create a safe and supportive environment where young people can build confidence, develop emotional wellbeing, and stay engaged in education, training, and their wider communities.

As a result, they are more likely to experience improved mental health, stronger social connections, greater self-esteem, and better long-term outcomes, enabling them to reach their full potential and make positive contributions to society.
