Our mission is to remove barriers, rebuild confidence and create meaningful pathways into adulthood, education, employment and community participation. We exist to ensure vulnerable young people are not left behind, and are supported to achieve sustainable, positive futures.
For many of the young people we work with, the journey into adulthood is not straightforward. They may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education, struggle with anxiety or emotional wellbeing, have SEND or SEMH needs, be at risk of becoming NEET, or simply need a different kind of support to move forward with confidence.
Our role is to provide that support in a way that is personal, practical and relationship led.
Beyond Barriers CIC was created to bridge the gap between education, health, social care, employers and adulthood for young people aged 16 to 24. It was developed following extensive consultation and research with schools, Local Authorities, health professionals, employers, community organisations and families, to address a clear gap in provision.
We were built to fill that gap. Not to fit young people into programmes, but to design programmes around young people – their strengths, their aspirations, their interests and the support they need to succeed.
We understand that progress is rarely linear. A young person who is unable to attend education full time today could develop the confidence to volunteer, complete work experience, begin training, gain employment or live more independently in the future with the right support.

Az is a qualified Art Teacher and highly experienced SEMH mentor with a talent for building trusted relationships with young people. She creates engaging, creative mentoring resources that inspire confidence, encourage self-expression and make learning accessible, helping every young person feel understood, valued and empowered to achieve their goals.
Sandra is our Outreach Support Lead and has over 10 years’ experience working with young people with SEND and SEMH needs. Warm, patient and approachable, Sandra is brilliant at building trusting relationships and helping young people feel comfortable and understood. She is passionate about helping every young person recognise their strengths, build confidence and move forward at their own pace.
